B.Tech Electrical Engineering is a 4-year undergraduate degree course. This course deals with the study of the application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism. Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech Electrical Engineering (Lateral Entry)
1. The candidates who possess the Diploma in Engineering / Technology awarded by the State Board of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu or its equivalent are eligible to apply for admission to the third semester of B.Tech in the branch corresponding to the branch of study.
2. The candidates who possess the Degree in Science (B.Sc.,) (10+2+3 stream) with Mathematics as a subject at the B.Sc. level are eligible to apply for admission to the third semester of B.Tech.
3. Admission to the BTech Electrical Engineering course is mainly done on the basis of the performance of the candidates in the entrance tests.
4. However, a few colleges also directly admit students based on their marks in the 10+2 board examination.
Admission Process
1. Colleges publish admission notices on their website from June when most Indian universities would have finished degree exams.
2. Candidate to apply for each college, as each college considers each mark the cut-off mark.
3. Some private colleges and deemed universities perform their counselling process by conducting their university-level entrance exams.
4. Some colleges require a minimum of 50% aggregate in the qualifying examination.
5. Candidates who qualify for the test are called for an interview before the final seat allotment.
6. Some of the entrance exams for BTech are JEE Main, WBJEE, JEE Advanced, KCET etc.
